Back-to-School Dinner Event

Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children hosted its annual Back-to-School Dinner Event for Baptist Children’s Home, Oklahoma City and Boys Ranch Town, Edmond, on Saturday, August 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Embassy Suites in Norman. More than 1,100 people attended the event.

This year’s theme was “This is my Story” celebrating stories and lives of OBHC residents.

“Once again, I am blown away at the generosity of Oklahomans taking care of the children in our state,” said OBHC Development Representative Shonda Flowers.

The event creates revenue through individual and business sponsorships and group fundraising. At the event, participants were able to partake in the silent auction starting at 4 p.m., enjoy a meal and be entertained by Emcee Ed Murray as children beamed with excitement modeling their favorite outfit for school or church.

Through the style shows we are able to provide boys and girls who currently live with us fresh new clothing, new shoes, everything we need to go back to school. And then throughout the year when students come to live with us, they are able to have new clothes, new shoes, new backpacks, so they can be just like any other kid in school.

Finally, I would like to personally invite you to be part of our exciting event next year (date TBA). If you are not on our contact list and would like to volunteer next year please contact me at 405-735-8343 or email me.

Gratefully,

Purpose
The purpose of the event is to create community involvement and support for OBHC and the children in their care. With the money raised, a special fund is set up to provide yearly clothing and other basic needs for children living at the Oklahoma City and Edmond campuses.
