Child and family-focused campus for children and single-mother families in need of a home.

Located in Owasso, Oklahoma, Baptist Children’s Home is a child-focused and family-focused campus which serves both children and single mother families.

In the Child-Focused Care program, up to eight boys or eight girls are placed in a cottage-style home, under the supervision of a husband and wife serving as houseparents. Children enjoy day-to-day life together, from meals, to activities, chores and homework. They attend Owasso Public Schools and are encouraged to participate in a variety of school, church and campus activities/programs.

A success plan for the needs of each child and family will be implemented upon their arrival. Its purpose is to identify the negative family behavior patterns being exhibited and help each member learn new ways of relating to each other. OBHC’s goal is to provide a Christian home environment for boys and girls until they can be reunited with their family, graduate from high school or become capable adults.

Baptist Children’s Home also offers the Family-Focused Care program. Family-Focused Care was developed to help single mothers, who may have limited or no support/resources, and provide an opportunity to develop a solid foundation for herself and the children in her custody. The goal is to help families become productive and more self-sufficient by providing a safe, stable and nurturing place to live, while equipping, assisting and teaching important skills that support both the mother and the children.

Campus History

Since 1903, Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children (OBHC) has provided a place for children in need of a home. Our desire is to help children and families requiring assistance find hope in a time of need. Baptist Children’s Home, Owasso began in 1973 and was the third of four OBHC campuses to open. It began with a gift of land and money made available by Mr. and Mrs. J. Ray Smith of Tulsa. The groundbreaking and construction of cottages in the 1970’s was the realization of a long-time dream of Tulsa Baptists. The campus remains true to OBHC’s century-long spiritual commitment of distinctive Christian child-care.
