Phoenix is a creative 13-year-old. He is in the sixth grade and enjoys music class at school. He likes to build Legos, draw and play the piano. He is currently working on a new Lego set and shows patience as he follows the instructions as he builds it.
For his birthday party this year, the Adult 5 Sunday School Class from First Baptist Tulsa took him and his cottage to Main Event. He was very thankful for the generous gift and had such a great time celebrating his birthday. This summer, Phoenix enjoyed outings to learn how to blow glass and make an ink pen. He also visited Frontier City to enjoy his favorite amusement park activity – bumper cars!
Phoenix is good at putting puzzles together. One of his strengths is his hand-eye coordination. His favorite cottage meal is meatloaf, and his favorite dessert is homemade chocolate cake, although Phoenix likes most desserts! He has a sweet tooth!

Mr. Holman, his housefather, says Phoenix lights up the room with his smile, and he is very kind-hearted. Phoenix strives to get along with everyone in the cottage. Phoenix says living in the cottage is “the closest thing I have to having brothers.” He likes playing volleyball, chess and cards with everyone in his cottage.
When asked what the biggest adjustment to living on campus was when he first came to OBHC at nine years old, he said, “getting used to people paying attention to me.” God has done a good work in his life, as he has gained confidence and found significance in who he is in Christ.
In a recent cottage Bible study, Phoenix struggled to understand how to love the unlovable. He wants to learn from Jesus’ example what that looks like and be able to love those in his life who have hurt him.
Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children continues to provide help and homes for children and their families as they show and share the love of Christ to amazing young men like Phoenix!
Prayer Requests
Pray for Phoenix to become taller and faster and stronger as he gets older. He would like his faith to be stronger as he grows in his relationship with Christ. Pray when he goes on his family visits that he would connect with his family and each family member would work toward possible reunification.
